We are seeking a remote Senior Systems Engineer to guide the next phase of growth with the Applied Training Brands and our systems infrastructure and security.  The right candidate for this critical position will partner with senior engineering leadership across each of the product lines to enhance our utilization of the AWS platform, stability of systems, security compliance, CICD, automation, and more.  Your ability to deliver will improve customer satisfaction and stability for the SaaS platforms under the Applied Training umbrella.

This position reports directly to the Applied Training Chief Technology Officer and collaborates with senior engineering leadership across the brands.

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with senior engineering leadership and the Lead Systems Engineer to implement infrastructural improvements.
  • Focus on increasing security posture.
  • Identify and work to resolve system stability issues with containers, system provisioning, deployment methodologies, AWS systems, etc.
  • Drive improvements to CICD pipelines.
  • Develop containerized services.
  • Automate processes for containerizing, scanning, and deploying.
  • Maintain infrastructure and accounts at AWS.
  • Implement and adhere to security processes.
  • Participate in SOC 2 compliance process and audits.
  • Deploy and manage back office systems including endpoint security/management and use identity systems.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on AWS systems.
  • Implement best practices for use of systems infrastructure including production, development, integration, and QA environments.

Your qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, with emphasis in engineering, computer science or information systems preferred
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ experience working with systems engineering and infrastructure required
  • Operating systems experience including Linux, MacOS
  • Monitoring and observability systems including (as an example): DataDog, NewRelic, VictorOps, PagerDuty
  • AWS
  • User and endpoint management including (as an example): Active Directory, JumpCloud
  • Container engines:  Docker
  • Automation including (as an example): Terraform, Packer, Chef, Puppet
